people_8smWe introduce committed individuals from diverse backgrounds to organizations that are seeking new board members. Our innovative Web site allows users to create profiles, and starts the matching process. Like match.com, we bring people together. Here is how it works:
Sign Up:

There is a one-time $50 fee for individuals and a sliding scale for nonprofit organizations, which is based on budget size. If you are unable to afford the fee, limited scholarship assistance is available. The membership fees includes the training and  unlimited access to our website and matching. You must Sign Up, pay our registration fee and attend a workshop before you can start matching. If you would like a scholarship to help cover the fee, please read our guidelines.

Training:

Although we are proud of our online matching tool, we believe that successful matchmaking is based on clarifying expectations and building solid relationships. Our training component is designed to make “dating” lead to “long-term marriages.”

Readiness to Serve workshops prepare individuals for board service and provide guidance on using our online matching tool. The interactive two-hour session provides an overview of the nonprofit sector and the basic roles and responsibilities of nonprofit boards. Individuals learn how to determine if a nonprofit organization will be a good fit and how to create an online profile that will make you an attractive board prospect. Attendees receive a manual. Refreshments are served.

The interactive two-hour session provides an overview of the basic roles and responsibilities of nonprofit boards and offers strategies for successful recruitment. Participants learn how to create a persuasive online profile that accurately reflects their organization’s mission, programs and leadership needs. Attendees receive a manual. Refreshments are served. To ensure that the board and staff are committed to our matching process, the executive director, board chair and at least one other board member are required to attend the workshop. Additional board members and staff are welcome to attend any session.

Online Profiles Profiles
include detailed information that enables our members to make successful matches. You are invited to create a profile at any time. But you will not be able to start the online matching process until you have attended a readiness workshop and paid the registration fee.To view the profiles of organizations which have attended and ready to match, visit Registered Nonprofits . This list is provided to encourage both individuals and other organizations to take advantage of our service.

Matching:

The final step is matching. Once activated, the online matching function compares specific areas of a profile to potential individual or organization profiles and provides a ranked ordered list according to the percentage of match between the two profiles. Either party is able to send a personal message to a potential match, which includes a link to the sender’s profile. The recipient can select “Let’s Talk” and arrange for an in-person meeting or “Sorry” to decline the offer. The system helps members keep track of potential matches. We also host mixer events designed to help our members meet prospects. Check the calendar for these dates.
